At Black Ribbon Organization, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful, supportive, and confidential environment for all members participating in our programs, services, meetings, and community spaces. Because our organization supports single fathers and men navigating sensitive personal, family, and legal challenges, confidentiality, respect, and responsible conduct are essential to maintaining trust within our community.
By joining or participating in any of our programs, events, virtual meetings, online spaces, support groups, or member communications, all members agree to the following:
1. Confidentiality of Program Information
Any personal, sensitive, or confidential information shared by members, facilitators, volunteers, administrators, or guests within our programs must remain strictly private and must not be shared with any outside person, organization, platform, or source unless expressly authorized or required by law.
This includes, without limitation:
- personal stories, experiences, or disclosures shared during meetings or programs;
- member names, identities, contact details, family information, or legal circumstances;
- any program materials, discussions, advice, or internal communications intended only for participants.
Members must not repeat, repost, circulate, distribute, or otherwise disclose information learned through the program to external parties.
2. No Social Media Sharing
To protect the privacy, dignity, and safety of all participants, members must not post, share, reference, quote, screenshot, summarize, or discuss any part of meetings, discussions, member interactions, or program content on social media or public platforms.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- TikTok
- X / Twitter
- YouTube
- blogs, forums, podcasts, livestreams, or group chats
No member may identify another member, describe another member’s situation, or post any content that could reasonably reveal participation in the program.
3. No Recording of Virtual Meetings or Sessions
Recording of virtual meetings, video calls, online support sessions, workshops, or any other program activities is strictly prohibited.
This includes:
- audio recordings;
- video recordings;
- screen recordings;
- screenshots;
- photographs of screens or devices;
- use of third-party tools, apps, or software to capture content.
Participation in meetings is conditional upon respecting this no-recording rule at all times.
4. Respect for Privacy and Personal Information
Members must not request, collect, store, share, publish, misuse, or exploit another member’s personal information for any reason outside the intended purpose of the program.
Personal information includes, but is not limited to:
- full names;
- phone numbers;
- email addresses;
- home or work addresses;
- court or custody details;
- financial information;
- health-related information;
- photographs, recordings, or identifying details.
Any misuse of another person’s personal information is considered a serious violation of this policy.
5. No Misconduct, Manipulation, or Exploitation
Members must not use the program, community, meetings, or member relationships for misconduct, manipulation, coercion, intimidation, harassment, personal gain, or any improper purpose.
Prohibited conduct includes:
- manipulating or misleading other members;
- pressuring members for personal, emotional, financial, legal, or social advantage;
- using the program to target, influence, exploit, or control others;
- bringing conflict, hostility, or bad-faith behaviour into the community;
- engaging in conduct that undermines the safety, trust, or integrity of the program.
6. Respectful Conduct Requirement
All members are expected to treat other members, volunteers, facilitators, moderators, and administrators with respect, dignity, and courtesy at all times.
Members must:
- communicate respectfully;
- respect differences in background, opinion, and personal experience;
- participate in a constructive and supportive manner;
- follow directions given by program administrators and facilitators.
7. Aggressive Behaviour and Language Not Tolerated
Aggressive behaviour, threatening conduct, abusive language, intimidation, harassment, discrimination, bullying, or hostile communication of any kind will not be tolerated.
This includes:
- verbal abuse;
- insulting, degrading, or inflammatory comments;
- yelling or threatening behaviour;
- discriminatory or hateful language;
- repeated disruptive or confrontational conduct;
- harassment of members or administrators inside or outside the program.
Any behaviour that creates an unsafe, hostile, or disruptive environment may result in immediate action.
8. Removal from the Program
Black Ribbon Organization reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to suspend, restrict, or remove any member from the program, community, meeting, or service if that member violates this policy or engages in conduct inconsistent with the organization’s mission, safety standards, or community values.
Serious or repeated violations may result in:
- immediate removal from a meeting or program;
- temporary suspension;
- permanent removal of membership or access;
- restriction from future participation.
Where appropriate, the organization may also take further steps where necessary to protect members, administrators, or the integrity of the program.
9. Duty to Maintain a Safe Community
Our organization is committed to maintaining a safe and trusted environment for all participants. Every member shares responsibility for protecting the privacy, dignity, and emotional safety of others.
By participating in our programs, members acknowledge that confidentiality, respect, and proper conduct are conditions of participation.
